About the Council

The Council of Twelve is a non-profit civic organization, based in Marion, Illinois. Originally, the Council was called the "Concerned Citizens Council of Marion, Illinois", but due to membership changes, the group was reorganized and renamed as it is today. The CCC was in existence from 2004-2006. 2007 will be the inaugural year for the newly reorganized C12.

Why the name "Council of Twelve"?

Throughout history, many leaders have established solid organizations based on 12. Many of those organizations and leaders have been role models and positive influences on their communities and nations. We seek to follow those traditions.
What will the Council of Twelve do?

Many other organizations throughout history have sought to make their communities a better place by changing the attitudes of the citizens in a positive way. How do we do that? Primarily, we do that by helping members of our communities to become better citizens and getting the communities involved in making their neighborhoods a better place. We also do our part by influencing policy in local governments and local businesses to the best of our abilities.
